Q: Can I flip the mattress over?
A: Your RightTouch mattress is designed to provide years of sleep comfort and support without the hassle of regularly flipping the mattress.

Q: Is it okay for pets to stay on the mattress?
A: Pets should not pose a problem. However, we do recommend pets’ nails be trimmed.

Q: Can kids jump on the mattress?
A: The RightTouch mattress is designed to provide you with years of comfort and support under proper usage. While your RightTouch mattress is designed to sustain the forces of a child jumping up and down on it, we do not recommend this practice.

Q: Is there formaldehyde in the fabric of the RightTouch mattress?
A: No.

Q: I’m allergic to latex.  Am I at risk with a RightTouch mattress?
A: No. Unlike other air mattresses that contain latex, which poses an allergy threat and deteriorates over time, the RightTouch mattress contains no latex.

Q: Can I use an electric blanket or mattress pad with my RightTouch mattress?
A: Absolutely. These accessories can further individualize your sleep comfort. The use of a heated blanket or pad may change your comfort setting, as air pressure changes with temperature. These changes are normal and of no concern.

Q: Can I move the mattress to another room without taking it apart?
A: Yes! Fully inflate both air chambers. Detach the hose quick connects from the pump and the mattress can be moved just like a regular innerspring mattress. For relocations to another home, we recommend disassembling the mattress to reduce the potential of damaging the air chambers.

Q: My spouse is very overweight.  How much weight can the RightTouch bed support?
A: The RightTouch air chamber is designed to withstand more than 1,000 pounds, so there is little chance of causing damage due to being overweight.

Q: Where can I find sheets to fit my bed?  It’s too thick (high).
A: Deep-pocketed sheets are available at most retail stores.  They are also available at www.sealybedding.com.

Q: If my RightTouch mattress gets soiled, can I wash my RightTouch cover in my washing machine?
A: No, a washing machine may damage the construction materials.  The cover should not be dry cleaned for the same reasons. You should use a mattress cover to protect your mattress from stains. However, if your RightTouch mattress does get soiled, gently hand-wash the spot with mild soap and a lightly damp cloth to gently cleanse the area until clean. Do not soak the cover with liquid. Allow the area to dry away from heat and sunlight before covering the mattress.

Q: What if I spill something on my RightTouch mattress?
A: Remove all of the bed clothing, including the mattress cover. Take a dry cloth a blot up as much of the liquid from the RightTouch cover as possible. Allow it to dry. If the spill is substantial, you may have to remove the cover and allow the liquid to dry.

Q: Can I add a stain protector to my mattress?
A: Yes, you can add an approved stain protector to the surface of your mattress. Take care not to spray the pump, hoses, cords, remotes or air chambers with any stain protector as the chemicals may damage the components.

Q: If the power goes out in my house, is there any way I can still inflate or deflate my mattress?
A: The RightTouch support system is designed to work together to provide you with maximum comfort and support. While the mattress will stay inflated to whatever comfort setting it was set on when the power goes out, there is no way to inflate or deflate the mattress during a power outage.

Q: If the power goes out, do I have to reset the memory settings on my remote control?
A: No, the computer chip in your remote was designed so you do not have to reset your memory function after a power outage.

Q: The number readout on the remote control disappears when I press the firm or soft buttons.  Is this normal?
A: Yes, don’t be alarmed.  An accurate reading cannot be taken as air is filling or being removed from the air chambers.  Rather than indicating a false number on the remote, the readout goes black until the air flow stops.  Then, an accurate reading can be taken.

Q: How can I find a comfortable setting for my RightTouch mattress?
A: When you first sleep on a RightTouch mattress, you may want to start with a comfort setting that feels most like the mattress you were sleeping on and adjust from there.  Sleep several nights in a row at the same setting. Just like a new pair of shoes, it takes some time to get used to a new setting. And when you do make a comfort setting change, make the change in small increments of no more than 0.02 or 0.04 psi at a time.

Q: What should I do if my pump doesn’t seem to be working or my remote control unit isn’t working?
A: Make sure the power cord is plugged into a working wall outlet. Make sure the wall outlet is working by plugging a lamp or other small appliance that you know is working into the outlet to see if it will operate. If the wall outlet is not functional, call an electrician.

If the wall outlet is working, plug the RightTouch pump back in. Make sure the remote control wires are securely plugged into the pump and the remote control unit. Remove each wire from the pump by pressing in on the tab near the base of the cord and gently pull the cord out. Replug the cord in securely. Repeat this process for the other cord going into the pump and for the cord going into the remote control unit.

If your pump does not work after performing these checks, call 1(866)BEST-BED (237-8233).

Q: What should I do if I can’t see the readout on my remote control?
A: Under normal conditions, the readout on your remote control unit dims after thirty seconds so you may sleep undisturbed.

If you cannot see the readout while adjusting the comfort setting, make sure the remote control cords are securely plugged into the pump and the remote control unit. Remove each cord from the pump by pressing on the tab near the base of the cord and gently pulling the cord out. Replug the cord in securely. Repeat this process for the other cord going into the pump and for the cords going into the remote control unit.

If your readout is still unreadable after performing these checks, call 1(866)BEST-BED (237-8233).

Q: Is your bed losing air?
A: When you wake up and read the comfort number, are you laying in bed, sitting in bed or standing up?

  • If, “Standing up”, your number is different because there is no pressure from your weight on the bed. If you lie down on the bed, your number will change.
  • If “Sitting”, your number is different because you aren’t lying in bed. Lay down and the number will be closer to your number.
  • If lying down and the number is less than 6 different than your setting, temperature, humidity and barometric pressure differences affect the reading.
  • o If lying down and the number is greater than 6, there may be an actual air loss. You have options to troubleshoot
  1. Call our toll free number for live assistance. If you choose this option, please be located close to your bed for effective assistance. The number is 1 866 237 8233.
  2. Attempt to troubleshoot yourself using the attached guide. See the following instructions.
    1. Examine the hoses.
      1. Fill each side of the bed until the remote reads 0.50 psi.
      2. Check the hoses for cracks, punctures, tears, etc.
      3. If there is a puncture or tear in the hose, call the toll free (1 866 237 8233) and request a new pump to be sent to your address.
      4. If there does not appear to be any punctures or tears, GO TO STEP 2
    2. Examine the pump AND pump quick connects.
      1. Disconnect the hoses from the pump by pushing the hose connector in slightly, turn it counterclockwise and pull it off.
      2. Remove the quick connects from the pump by unscrewing them counterclockwise from the pump. If the connections are too tight, gently use a wrench or pair of pliers to get started.
      3. Verify that there is a rubber washer either inside the quick-connect that was just removed or stuck to the pipe coming out of the pump.
      4. If the washer(s) are missing, new quick connects are needed. Call the toll free number (1 866 237 8233) and request new quick-connects to be mailed to your home.
      5. If the washers are present, examine the quick connects for cracks, etc.
      6. If the quick connects are cracked, call the toll free for new quick connects.
      7. If the quick connects are okay, EXAMINE THE THREADING ON THE PUMP FOR CRACKS, ETC. If there are cracks on the threading, call the toll free number and request a new pump. The toll free number is 1 866 237 8233.
      8. If the quick connects and the pump are okay, SCREW THE QUICK CONNECTS BACK ONTO THE PUMP. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. DO NOT REATTACH THE HOSES. PROCEED TO STEP 3.
    3. Diagnose the pump.
      1. Lie down on the side of the bed that is losing air.
      2. Listen carefully to see if you notice an air loss (hissing noise).
      3. If you do not hear or notice an air loss when lying on the bed, it is likely that the leak is in the pump housing. Call the toll free number (1 866 237 8233) and request a new pump.
      4. If you notice or hear an air loss when lying on the bed, PROCEED TO STEP 4.
    4. Diagnose the air chambers.
      1. Flip the bed over and remove the bottom zippered cover.
      2. Determine if the air chambers have been installed correctly. The piece of material that holds the two air chambers together should be near the top quilt of the bed and the hoses should be near the half moon cut out on the foam head rail.
      3. If the air chambers are installed correctly, TIGHTEN THE CHAMBER TO HOSE CONNECTIONS BY HAND. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
      4. Replace the zippered bottom cover, flip the bed over, and lie down on the bed. If it is still leaking, call the toll free (1 866 237 8233) and request a new air chamber.
      5. If the air chambers are installed incorrectly, TIGHTEN THE CHAMBER TO HOSE CONNECTIONS BY HAND. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Then, REFER TO THE DVD ON HOW TO DISASSEMBLE AND REASSEMBLE YOUR MATTRESS. Follow these instructions. It should not take longer than 10 – 15 minutes.
For you reference, here are the parts of your RightTouch bed labeled for you.

If you think you are still losing air, call 1(866)BEST-BED (237-8233), for further assistance.

Q: Do I really need a foundation or box spring?  Can’t I just use my old box spring or foundation?
A: The RightTouch mattress and foundation were designed together to give you the maximum support and comfort for the longest life.  In fact, your warranty may be voided if the RightTouch mattress is used without its box spring.

Q: Should I buy a regular box spring or a low-profile box spring?
A: It is entirely a personal preference. You should be aware that the height of the box spring can affect your ease of getting in and out of bed, and will affect the profile of your bedding set against your head and foot boards.

Q: Why is a Sealy box spring better than the competition’s box spring?
A: Sealy offers the only functional box spring in air beds today. The Sealy box spring with its functional torsion modules (springs) works as a system with the RightTouch mattress to provide you with the best comfort and support available today. Other box springs are nothing more than a platform for the mattress to rest on.

Q: My bed has a heavy vinyl or plastic smell.  Is this okay?
A: Any odor you may notice from the RightTouch mattress will dissipate over time and is non-toxic. If the odor is extremely strong, disassemble the mattress and allow the air chambers to air out for several days. Reassemble the mattress following the instructions in your owner’s manual or DVD.

Q: There seems to be a difference in feel in the middle of the bed.  What should I do?
A: The RightTouch mattress was designed to provide the most comfort across the entire bedding surface of any air mattress on the market today. Because the mattress offers individual comfort to you and your partner, it is possible you may feel a slight transition across the bedding surface, particularly if one partner likes a very firm mattress and the other partner likes a very plush feel.

Q: I’ve heard of mold problems with competitors’ air mattresses.  Should I be worried?
A: No!  Unlike competitors’ models that have a very rough fabric-like surface that mold and mildew can attach to, the air chambers’ surface of your RightTouch mattress is made of smooth PVC.  Additionally, Sealy constructed this mattress with a moisture-proof barrier between the surface of your bed and the air chambers.
